Greg Roeszler '74 (Coach Roz) and the Playmakers are the new Encina football coaches. Coach Andy Braio will be at the game supporting Coach Roz.

The homecoming theme is “There’s No School Like the Old School.” It is a decades theme with tributes to the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. We are going to have two floats this year. We want to showcase how Encina has evolved throughout the decades. Our first float is going to be a tribute to “Remember the Apaches.” Then we will have our 2008 Homecoming Royalty. Our second float will be showcasing where we are today as the Bulldogs. After the second float has arrived, each class will dedicate a 1 minute performance to their assigned decade. Then we will announce our royalty and the Homecoming King & Queen. The finale will be Coach Roz’s tribute to Coach Braio.

Welcome to the Encina Football Family,

As we begin this new era in high school football at Encina, let me tell you what a privilege it is for me to be part of building something special at my alma mater. It is going to take an effort from everyone from the student/athletes, to the parent’s, administration and the alumni. So far, we are off to a great start with great participation.

Our student/athletes have been in our study skills (Bulldog program) at 6:45 making academics a priority. We have been serving in the community since last spring so that we are learning to give ourselves to others. Our players are responsible for cleaning the quad at lunch and do it daily with pride.

We will build a program that is special by having our kids excel first in the classroom and then on the field. Our teachers have gotten on board by providing us tutoring and encouragement in the classroom beyond the expected. Our alumni have sponsored kids by purchasing uniforms and many other items as well as stopped by practice to meet the team and offer encouragement. Our kids love meeting the alumni and we welcome you to come and meet the team

We will be a team that you will be proud of and we invite you to participate in many different ways. We will, over time, become a very unique model in high school football. We want you to be part of “The Family.”

Go Dawgs,
Coach Roz
