Bio: The real question is what haven't I been doing?  I went to ARC and SCC for awhile before moving to Minneapolis for film school; got the paper on a screenwriting degree.  Lived in Minneapolis for ten years, now I live in Maine of all places.  Backpacked and squatted across Europe twice, was homeless for two years and hopped trains around America during this time.  been in many punk bands and did the punk/hardcore thing up until about four years ago.  Most of the last fifteen years was spent hanging out and being cool, and not really making anything of myself.  I am now back in college for Marine Biology and plan on going all the way through to PhD, that is if I can stand being in college for another six years.
Trivia: I am currently writing a book based on my experiences in Minneapolis.
Friends: Clayton Williamson, Hugo Martinez, Jose something or another, Dan Guiteraz, Larry Perrigio, Shawn LeDet, Tony Avila, Nylesh, David Estep, Jason 'Hawk' Brown, Anna, Analisa, that black skateboarder dude, Thaddicus, Perry, Pepperdine, a few others that I am forgetting. I hung out with a lot of kids that went to other high schools (mostly Rio and Sac).
Hobbies: Writing and being an overall geek.  Home brewing
Kids: No kids....that I am aware of. I would like to have a goat farm one day.  Other then that, I am content to not have the human kind.
Grade_school: Greer for a minute, then Howe Ave.
Grade_school_friends: Clayton Williamson (C-Dubs).
Junior_high: Howe Ave for 7th, Jonas Salk for 8th.
Junior_high_friends: C-Dubs, Shawn LeDet, and Ron Gill.  Morgan Sprague and Mike Hall for a minute before they found their own crowd.
Memorable_teachers: Eric Dahlin, for obvious reasons.  Mr. Tracy.
Favorite_memory: Uh.....skate boarding the pool when they drained it.
Riding Ron Gill's ramp in the morning before school.....when Encina grabbed the attention of the national news because the football team had to cancel their season since like everyone on the team was flunking. Or something like that.
Story: Not really.  I hated high school and did everything that I could to not attend (and I spent most of my upper classmen years in every single Saturday School because of it).  However, looking back on those days, I must admit that they were good times.  Not the best years of my life or anything, but fun none-the-less.

I wrote the obituary that was submitted from the Sacramento Bee. I'm horrible at writing. Writing was always Derek's department.
All I can really add is that he died of complications from epilepsy. He didn't have his first seizure until he was 31 years old. The past two years were spent trying to find the right medication to control the seizures. We were never able to accomplish that.
I have created a My Space page in memory of Derek for our son Hunter. We would appreciate any thoughts and memories his friends would like to share. The link- www.myspace.com/allthingsderek

Occupation: Installation and Training Coordinator for VINtek Inc.  I've been with the company about 6 years.  They handle electronic lien and titles and they let me work from home.
Bio: Well, I left Sac for UCLA (92-94), bounced around a lot of CA and even tried my hand at Seattle for a bit.  I eventually settled back into
the Sacramento area.  Citrus Heights has been my home for the last 3 years.  I got married in 2001 and I am currently in the process of a very amicable divorce that finalizes some time in 2005.  I'm moving to Henderson, NV by the end of 2005.  The real estate is a bit more affordable in Nevada than nor-cal.  Henderson is about 10 minutes outside of Las Vegas.  I'm still addicted to the bright lights of Hollywood and I put in applications for Reality TV shows like Big Brother and The Amazing Race and I still do a little bit of work as an extra on the side but most of them are unpaid gigs so it's just for fun.
Trivia: I have become an addict of myspace.com.  Damn my friends for getting me into that thing!  I'm actively pursuing playing professional poker.  I know it's a bit trendy with the stuff on TV but I have been playing long before the TV cams turned it into a media circus and I have been winning low level tournaments, and some mid-range tournaments, over the course of the last 10 years. I also ran into Spencer Hamilton (1991) on the set of John Singleton's "Higher Learning" while participating as an extra in the movie.  It was being filmed at UCLA at the time.  I also ran into Deanna Leiser (1992) while working on the set of Seabiscuit.
Friends: Jason Duncan, Sasha Stacy, Marsha DeSouza, Deanna Leiser, Jan Breckling, Thong and Tran Hoang, Laura Bui, Christi Fleming, Ann Opp, Stacie Lawrence, Sarah Martasian, and a gang of folks from AP classes. I've lost contact with nearly everyone but I sure wouldn't be opposed to folks saying hello now and again.
Hobbies: Poker, fantasy sports (active WCOFF charter participant), karaoke, golf, and ebay.
Kids: No kids of my own yet.  That's kind of the reason thw wife and I split.  I wanted them, she no longer wants them.  That can be a bit of a bummer.  However, I am a godfather to two phenomenal girls.  Bryce McKenna Davis - Age 7 and Teryn Mackenzie Davis - Age 2.  They are a huge part of my life and I take the opportunity to see them often.
Grade_school: Creekside... I think I heard they closed this school down. :-(
Grade_school_friends: Deanna Leiser, Tim and Ivy Wilson, and I'm sure some other folks that grew up in the Town & Country area that I'm surely
forgetting.
Junior_high: Howe Avenue and Jonas Salk
Junior_high_friends: Lots of transplants from these two schools
Memorable_teachers: Mr. Tracy... Quite an extraordinary individual. I've never known a teacher to be so adept at knowing the psyche of the mind of a teenager.  Mrs. G. made English fun again.  Mr. McElroy... If it wasn't for Mac I never would have gotten the acting bug.  Some of my more memorable moments came from working with folks in The Wizard of Oz, The Importance of Being Ernest, and several one act plays.  Mrs. Woo...
EBS was one of my all time experiences in a short lifetime of all time experiences.  Having that TV station on campus was such a unique facet of my high school life.  Staying involved with it really made you focus on nearly everything in school.  Without EBS I'd say there would have been a lot of good times missed.
Favorite_memory: It would be too hard to pick just one.  I'm amazed at how much I actually remember and enjoyed during my time at Encina.  My
previous note still holds true though... "There are several but I'd really have to say that it was Sophomore, Junior, and Senior English. Most people reading this must think I'm crazy...but in all reality those days and those classes are very fond memories.  I had a chance to be around some of the most talented and intelligent people I've ever known. Whether or not I got along with all of them is not the issue.  Some of the oddest things, from those classes, just stuck with me over the years.  For example, I have yet to eat at Burger King since high school because Heather Jones (1992) told me that their fish sandwiches were not dolphin safe.  I still have a copy of the journal that Ann Opp (1992) wrote with those little anecdotes describing each person in the English class.  I rarely go through a week without encountering some incident or reading some article that reminds me of those days."  Getting busted by Mrs. Leaf for breaking in to Mr. Dedarian's class before school was kind of funny too.  They ended up putting those metal strikeplates on all of the classroom doors a week after that happened.  How about counseling at Sly Park, SRO (Students Reaching Out), and the 24 hour relay?  I'm tellin' you that's just the start...
Story: Well, not so much of a story here but maybe a statement will suffice.  You know, at one time or another I've considered a lot of people from 1989-1992 to be my friends.  Being in such a diverse community you'd be hard pressed not to.  Even though we may not have spoken much, if at all, since then, I can say that I have life long memories of a whole lot of you. This includes many I may not have mentioned.  I wouldn't know where to begin thanking people for being a part of such life altering experiences.  The interaction alone helped mold me into the person I am today and I appreciate you all for that.

Alana is in third grade and such a smart little girl, I dumbfounded that someone so smart came from my jeans...It must be her mother. Justice is also a smart kid, he's already speaking in sentences. I can't understand half of the things he is saying but none the less, he is still saying them. I am now a single father living by myself in an apartment(with both of my children 50% of the time). I ran an "industrial" club in sacramento for a bit, as well as promoted shows, and had bands that played around... decided i needed to go on tour, got stranded in oregon, met a girl, fell in love, moved to medford with her for three years... we broke up, i moved back to sacramento where i got into a lot of fights, decided to leave sacramento, met a girl, moved to La Grande, Oregon, had a baby...

Bio: I got my Bachelors in English Language Literature from UC Santa Cruz (also attended SCC), spent a semester in England, a summer semester in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Worked as a receptionist and then as a sales person in the sheet metal industry for a couple of years (go figure). After three years of office work I decided I liked working with kids better. So I went back and just got my multiple subject teaching credential. I got married in 2000 to a wonderful man and we just had our first child in February of 2002. Calvin is a little angel! So now the career is on hold while I figure out why our folks called parenting so much work.
Friends: Susan Heggestad was definitely my best friend in highschool (she was the only one patient enough to put up with me) but during those four years at one time or another I considered these people to be friends and all were influences on my life: Shannon Blackman, Eva Mulder, Stacie Lawrence, Marsha DeSouza, Hayley Fojut, Denise, Melanie Barrett, Marcy, Jason Alexander, and some I'm sure I'm forgetting. Susan is the only one with whom I've kept in contact.
Hobbies: I like to sleep. (And all of you who have had children know that that becomes a priviledge instead of a right.) I write, draw, and mostly spend time with my family.

Bio: Well what have I been doing....Right after graduation I decided to join the United States Navy because just like many
of you I had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up.  I thought that maybe the Navy could help me do that, and it did!!!
I was stationed on a Destroyer Tender right after boot camp and traveled the world.   What a wonderful experience it was for me, I met my ship in Isreal, which is an absolutely beautiful place, then from there I went to three different ports in Italy, and then to Spain.  I realized how very lucky I was to have been able to see all of these different places and in turn it was an
extrodinary growing experience for me.  Well I met my husband of 5 1/2 years now   in the Navy, we were stationed on the
same ship together.  We now live in New Jersey where he is from with our two beautiful children.  I sure do miss California some, but I do have to say that I love all four seasons here.
Trivia: Nothing interesting about me, but maybe to the people who knew me would of never of thought that me of all people
would of joined the Navy.  I didn't think I would either, but if I had to do it all over again I would, I loved it so much,
and I think and encourage anyone who is graduating that if they are not sure what direction in life they want to take, they
should try the military at least for two years.  If anything you learn the meaning of "Finding yourself"!!!
Friends: My best friends well I had so many good friends, and I talked to everyone, but I hung out with Julia Corinado (where are you Julia, if you read this please contact me).   Kim Logan, Brandy ( I think White was her last name), Lucy.  I hung out with the Seniors when I came to the school when I was a Junior because I was dating Matt Cloutier, so I mostly stayed with that group of people.
Hobbies: My hobbies include spending time with my kids, I don't do much that doesn't include them.  Maybe a movie once in
a while with my girlfriend, but mostly my kids are my hobby.
Kids: Ok that is easy, I have a beautiful daughter who just turned 6 and is getting ready to go into the first grade.  Her name
is Breanna Nicole.  I also have a handsome and very loving little boy who just turned 4 and is going to be starting
Pre-school here in September.  His name is James Garrett.  I guess I will have to get some hobbies once they are both
away at school, or have more kids!!  NOT
Grade_school: I went to Woodridge Elementry in North Highlands, CA
Grade_school_friends: Unfortunately I didn't go to Encina until I was a Junior, so I didn't go to school with anyone from there.
Junior_high: Foothill Junior High, in North Highlands, CA.
Memorable_teachers: Mr. McElroy, Mrs. Woo, and definitly Mrs. Peterson our libraian.   These teachers seem to be the ones that really seemed to care about you as an individual, and they were teachers that took the time to really help you learn and understand what they were teaching at the time.  Oh I forgot Mrs. Mesquita, of course I can't say that I use spanish in my everyday life, but she was a fantasic teacher.   Mrs. Peterson wasn't anyone who taught me about math or spanish or computers, but she was someone who helped me with knowing myself and who I wanted to be as a person.
Favorite_memory: Well I guess I would have to say when I was chosen to go to Sly Park to be a counsoler.  I think I will remember that always, because I also went to Sly Park when I was in the sixth grade and it was great to go back there as a counsoler.  I also had a fun time with the other  people from school that went with me.
Sibling_info: Jeremy Horn was one of my brothers whom I was always with because we were only a grade behind one another, he graduated in 93.  He is in the Army and lives in Kansas with his wife and little girl Abigaile.  I also have another brother
who graduated in 97 I believe, Wendell Horn.  He still lives in Califorina and is working for BMW.  Neither one have e-mail.
