Subject:Encina (homecoming/archives/how you can help/directories/siblings&classmates/thanks) Date:Fri, 23 Oct 1998 16:35:51 -0700 Encina alumni, HOMECOMING PAGE There is a homecoming page which will contain the latest information on the annual Encina homecoming party. http://www.encinahighschool.com/homecoming.htm The first annual homecoming party is next Friday, October 30th. If you are interested please contact Rett Smart (Rett@lovelandsmart.com or 510-444-5219). ARCHIVES PAGE There is an archive page which contains past Encina emailings: http://www.encinahighschool.com/archives.htm Newcomers who have not received all of my emailings may find this page informative, as it gives a sense of the history of the website and how things have evolved. It currently goes back only a few months. HOW YOU CAN HELP As some of you have noted, maintaining and promoting the Encina website is very time consuming. But also very rewarding for the most part 8^). I have contacted all those for whom I have email addresses but in many cases I have not heard back from you. I would GREATLY APPRECIATE it if those of you receiving and hopefully enjoying Encina email, but who have not submitted their contact information, would please take the time to do so now: http://www.encinahighschool.com/directory/submit_contact.htm No lurkers please! Support the website by participating in the Encina alumni database and class directories. Of course, I respect your right to privacy and none of the information you submit will be published on the website without your permission. But at least it will be available in the database when the time comes to contact you about reunions or other Encina activities. DIRECTORIES The class directories are maintained manually by me, not automatically by the forms you submit. So please email me about any corrections or typos. Some day I may figure out how to do this automagically. In the class directories, many listings say "contact webmaster" or "care of webmaster". "care of webmaster" indicates I have an email address but do not have permission to publish it in the class directory. I will manually forward email if you send it to me. "contact webmaster" indicates that I either have contact information (but no email) or know somebody who knows how to contact this alumni. This third party is usually another alumni, although I even have some parents in the database. I would like to avoid having "care of webmaster" type listings as this means I have to manually forward email. This was only  meant to be a temporary measure which indicates the alumni has an email address, not a way to avoid listing your email address. SIBLINGS & CLASSMATES Some of you may wonder why I'm always asking for the names of your siblings and classmates. I add them to the Encina alumni database and make a note that interested parties should be referred to the third party for whom I have contact information. I also add their name to the class directories so that if someone is looking for them, I can refer them to a third party who knows how to reach them. So for those of you who haven't sent me information about your siblings, PLEASE take a moment to send me their names and class years! No contact information is necessary although I would certainly appreciate an email address. This also applies to Encina classmates you are in contact with. This way, you do not have to disclose any private contact information, just name and class year! THANKS I really appreciate those of you who have taken the time to send in your contact information and bios, especially those of you who've listed siblings and friends. This greatly expands the alumni listings and makes the class directories a better resource. There's a continual stream of new listings now and this should lead to better attendance at future reunions as we track down more lost alumni. Thank you for your support... Harlan Encina webmaster
