Soon afterwards, he received a nasty email from a classmate who reminded him what an ass he used to be in high school. As a result, he had second thoughts about attending his reunion and asked to be removed from the class directory and mailing list. The thought of going to his reunion and being confronted by unforgiving folks who still harbored grudges was too much to bear. He admitted that his reputation in high school was deserved, but confided to me the personal tragedies in his family which were responsible for his behaviour in high school. He managed to overcome these tragedies and has gone on to become a successful professional. For most of us, many years have gone by since those Encina days. We're none of us the same person we were back in high school. Hopefully we're more mature now and a little wiser than in those adolescent, hormone-charged days. Cut your old classmates a little slack. You've changed. They've changed. Would you like to be held accountable for all your actions in high school? In summary, if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it. The Encina website is about rekindling friendships, not animosities... Enough said. 1965 REUNION I talked with George Hullin this morning. George said that Lynn Brown Peters 65, the former reunion chair, has passed on the responsibility to George Hullin and Joyce Rogers Brand 65. George and Joyce have mixed emotions about whether to organize a 35 year reunion. George is not sure what kind of turnout to expect, it being an off year, and wonders whether to wait until the 40 year reunion. However, George is willing to organize a reunion this year if there is sufficient interest from the class. If you are interested in having a reunion this year please contact George at george.hullin@hrh.com or 916-488-1400 (work). You can also send mail to encina1965@egroups.com as I've added George to the Encina Update and class mailing list. 1970 REUNION Tom Henley 70 was one of the reunion organizers before he passed away last fall. Do we have anyone else on the reunion committee on the mailing list? The class needs some folks to step up and help if there is going to be a reunion this year. Write encina1970@egroups.com if you are interesting in attending and/or helping to organize the 30 year reunion. 1975 REUNION Where: Sutter Club When: Saturday, July 15, 2000 Contact Jenny Bender Bittner at jedb@pacbell.net 1980 REUNION Richard Stoffel wrote that the place and date for the class reunion has been set. Where: The Firehouse When: Saturday, October 14, 2000 Contact: encina1980@egroups.com 1985 REUNION No news regarding the elusive Melinda Cope 85. Do we have any other reunion committee members present? Send email to encina1985@egroups.com if you are interesting in attending and/or helping organize the 15 year reunion. 1990 REUNION The current reunion committee is Denyce Bellinger, Hayley Fojut and Jinne Webb. You can contact them at the following addresses. Denyce: tiniegrrl@Aol.com Hayley: mskitty_13@hotmail.com Jinne: jphorger@pacbell.net I've been seeing a steady stream of contact forms from the class of 90 as we locate more and more classmates. 1995 REUNION Do we have anyone from the reunion committee on the mailing list? Please write encina1995@egroups.com if you're interesting in attending and/or helping to organize the 5 year reunion. ALUMNI REUNION Lucia Churches 73 wrote: Hello Encina Friends! As you know, a group of former Encina graduates has been trying to put together another fun gathering, since the Homecoming party was such a success. We e-mailed everyone with a date of February 27, but have decided to move the date so we could get a "better" place that wouldn't charge us a room fee. THE NEW DATE FOR THE ENCINA ALUMNI PARTY IS SATURDAY, MARCH 18, 2000 AT 5:00 P.M. We are currently working on a new location at one of Sacramento's "finest" watering holes. Please mark your calendars with the date ... location information will follow. We will ask for an RSVP later in the month. Hope everyone can come! The Homecoming Party was a great opportunity to see old pals and make new ones. We'll be in touch. "Love Chronicles" is hosted by John Corbett (Chris from Northern Exposure) and can be seen Tuesday nights at 10pm ET/9pm CT/8pm MT/7pm PT. This week's episode is about "Love and War". I looked at the URL Lou sent me for "Love Chronicles": http://www.aande.com/lovechronicles/ and the series description says: "What is love? Some say it is a clinical madness. Others say that it is the greatest emotion humans can possess. This fall A&E takes a revealing look at this thing called love and all of its ramifications, when it presents the documentary series Love Chronicles, hosted by John Corbett (Northern Exposure). Each week the series will provide answers to this universal conundrum by taking a sociological, scientific and historical look at the rituals and traditions surrounding love, courtship and marriage. The series will also investigate new trends and explore some of the offbeat and lesser-known aspects of love from around the world. Love Chronicles is produced for A&E by Emmy- and Academy Award-winning producer Arnold Shapiro (Scared Straight!, Rescue 911, L.A. Detectives), of Arnold Shapiro Productions. I always used to watch her play Celia Quartermaine back in the early 80's when she was in General Hospital. I also saw that movie "eyewitness", where she starred with Andrew Stevens and Adrian Zmed. I also saw her in an episode of Matlock, in another episode of that short-lived series starring Mariel Hemingway, and parts of other episodes she has been in (Baywatch, the A-Tean, and BJ and the Bear.) I think she is gorgeous. I am letting this website know that I think they made an error. According to this website (Encina High School), she belongs to the class of 1969. However, I have read from various magazine and internet sources that she was born in November 30. 1961. In other words, that she is 38 years old. If she would have graduated in 1969, she would have been 7 or 8 years old, which would have made it impossible for her to graduate because no one can graduate at that age. I think that she probably graduated in 1979 and a type-o was made. A six instead of a seven was placed in the year. That is why I am emailing you. Also, if I am right can you let me know. One thing I am positive of is that Sherilyn is not 40 years old yet. Thanks, Juan Martin boytomeof@yahoo.com I wrote Juan back that I was pretty sure Sherilyn Wolters graduated in 1969. He replied: Hi Harlan, Are you sure it is the same Sherilyn Wolter though? Are you sure it is the actress who was in the soap opera General Hospital, BJ and the Bear, Santa Barbara, the A-Team, Baywatch and much more? Couldn't it maybe be somebody who shares the same name? The Sherilyn Wolter I have seen so much on television looks very young. There is no way she could be in her forties like this person would be if she really graduated in 1969. Anyways, thanks for getting back to me and please let me know what you find. Juan I did not know Sherilyn personally at Encina. But others have written that she is indeed the actress in question. I guess the birthdate they use in the bios has been fudged a bit. BTW, is anyone still in contact with Sherilyn? I would like to get her email address. OUTLOOK EXPRESS 5 Microsoft adding an interesting new feature to Outlook Express 5. The ability to access Hotmail email accounts. This features combines the best of both worlds. The ability to access your hotmail either via a browser or via Outlook Express. I used Yahoo email for the past year. My main complaint about web or browser based email is that it's slow and tedious to send and receive mail. Every step requires a delay. On the plus side, you can access your email from any browser and your mail is always there, since it stays on the Yahoo or Hotmail server on the internet. Yahoo limited you to 3mb of email though. On the other hand, Outlook Express is very fast and convenient to use. However, your mail is downloaded to your PC and it's difficult to access your email from other PCs. This new feature of Outlook Express combines the best of both worlds. I can access my Hotmail email and Outlook Express synchronizes the Hotmail mail folders with those in Outlook Express. Very cool if you use hotmail and outlook express. TRANSLATION There are some very cool sites on the internet which offer language translation. Some will translate HTML webpages: http://babelfish.altavista.com/ while others will translate email: http://www.t-mail.com/ while others will translate both webpages and text: http://translator.go.com/ However, these websites only handle Spanish, French, Italian, German and Portuguese. If anyone knows of a website which can translate English to Japanese (not Japanese characters but the English character version of Japanese) please let me know.
